Turkey set for a record-breaking year

Tourism in Turkey is set for a record-breaking year with international visitor numbers exceeding 25.6 million during the first nine months of 2011. Announced during the World Travel Market in London, arrivals into the country in September alone were up over 12 per cent compared to the previous year.

Turkey was placed seventh in the 2010 International Tourist Arrivals rankings with a total number of visitors of over 28.6 million. In addition, the number of beaches and marinas in Turkey awarded the coveted Blue Flag now stands at 331, the highest number the country has ever achieved placing them in fourth place out of 41 participants.
