Duchally score Gold!

The green team at Duchally Country Estate in Perthshire has seen its continuing work at improving sustainability at the resort rewarded with a GOLD award from the Green Tourism Business Scheme.
A 2013 assessment saw the resort score 81% from 300 points, moving it from a silver GTBS status to the coveted GOLD standard.
In his audit report, the GTBS assessor complimented the high food scores ‘with most meats very locally sourced (Auchterarder) while some home grown produce, local mineral water and beers complement the menu’. This, he reported, gave guests “an excellent taste of the region while minimising food miles.”
Other highlights included good waste segregation, involvement in various food networks including Slow Food, planting of native trees and generally good insulation; with particular note of the installation of a wood pellet boiler to the swimming pool building resulting in a significant CO2 saving.
The assessor concluded “Some good progress exhibited overall – well done!”
