Loch Lomond is the largest inland body of water in the British Isles by surface area, is included in the Trossachs National Park, and is an area of dramatic contrasts and a popular leisure destination.
Measuring 24 miles long and between 0.75 miles wide in the north to 5 miles wide toward the south, Loch Lomond Scotland was once voted the 6th greatest natural wonder in Britain.
The northern and north eastern area of Loch Lomond is narrow and deep and has a rugged backdrop of mountains, Ben Lomond, the most southerly of the Scottish Munro’s is on the eastern shore soaring 3,195ft into the sky.

Ferries and pleasure craft operate throughout the season and are the best way to explore the Loch. Boat trips on the Loch can be found at Tarbet, Balloch, Balmaha and Luss.
The harbour at Balhama is also a centre for sailing and water sports, the loch is open to any type including kayaks, canoes, wind-surfing, jetskis, speed boats and cruisers.
Walkers and cyclists are well catered for around Loch Lomond with plenty of easy going trails that will lead you past quaint lochside villages and sandy coves, hikers looking for something more strenuous can head to the north of the Loch where the mountains await.
The Loch Lomond golf course is one of the most famous in the world and has hosted many world class tournaments including the Scottish Open. An additional golf course called The Carrick has opened on the banks adjacent to Loch Lomond golf course.
